The calendar says it is Spring, but by observation one might be inclined to argue otherwise. Still, the word Lent has Anglo-Saxon origins in their word for Spring, and Spring is, of course, the season of new birth. As Lent continues to course its way on toward Holy Week and Easter, are there signs of new birth in your spiritual life? It is not inappropriate to begin to take a look at the disciplines we may have established for Lent and examine them for the presence of those small buds of new life.

If those buds are hard to find, or if they are suffering from a touch of frostbite, like many of the plants in my backyard, it is not too late. It is amazing what some nurture and tender-loving-care can do to get things back on the right track again.

As we continue to embrace the Church’s invitation to the observance of a holy Lent, there are still many fine opportunities available to us at Trinity. The Adult Forum continues to read and reflect on A Season for the Spirit, by Martin Smith, SSJE. Our Wednesday Evenings in Lent continue for two more sessions. This week (3/25) we have as our guest Dr. Michael Santer, Jr., who will give us a presentation on the physical nature of Jesus’ crucifixion. For this week only we will begin at 5:45 with prayers in Trinity Hall. Following Dr. Santer’s presentation there will be a short break and then we will continue with "A Long Night & a Bad Day with a Walk Through the Mall." Next week (4/1): "Fire, Word, Water, Table."

Other Lenten opportunities include mid-week worship. We offer Eucharist on Wednesdays at 7:00 a.m. and at 12:10 p.m. The later service also offers the sacrament of unction for those who desire prayers and the laying-on of hands for healing. Fridays we offer Stations of the Cross at 5:15 p.m. All parishioners, guests and visitors are welcome to join in any of these activities.

Finally for this week, I want to update you on the search for our new Christian Education staff person. Our last newspaper ad did not generate any response.   However, that simply serves as a reminder that networking is almost always the best way to discover the right person for the job. Do you have the urge to be considered? Do you know someone else who "would be just right" for this job? Do you want more information about it? If the answer to any of these questions is "yes," then give me a call (422-3362). Between Trinity’s network and networking with the area clergy, be confident that we will find the person who is being called to this ministry.

Love, Scott+

Thanks be to …

A very generous and kindhearted donor who made possible the framing of Trinity’s Stations of the Cross set. They have been done in a way which makes them easy to put up and take down. The Stations will remain up during the balance of Lent for your use at scheduled times or anytime you are inclined to come in and pray the journey Jesus made for each of us.

Good TV – Really!

The Odyssey Channel [a joint endeavor of several Christian denominations including the Episcopal Radio and Television Foundation, the Jewish community and others] extends an invitation to join them on an extraordinary journey to The Field Afar, adventures of the human spirit. This Mary- knoll World Production begins April 2 on Thursday evenings at 10 p.m. (But check your local listings to be sure.)

An Invitation to a Holy Lent –
A Lenten Sermon Series

The series concludes with-

Calling All Cards

We are in short supply of greeting cards for our card ministry. Please add your extra "Thinking of You," "Get Well," and "Birthday" cards to the basket under the Trinity Hall bulletin board. These cards are so nice to have out on Sundays for parishioners to sign and send to Trinitarians who are hospitalized, bedfast, etc. Any and all are appreciated!

Memorial Service for Ed Byham
