Faith @
Fifth and Juliana
Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,
The opportunities to experience the breadth and
scope of life at Trinity Church simply abound this weekend. It seems
to me that is what being a community of faith is all about. We have
the chance to come together in a comfortable social setting (Supper
Club at Betty Rodda’s). We can come and be blessed by the witness
and spiritual sharing of a faithful layman (Mark Thurman), and hear
about the power ministry of Rivers of the World (ROW). Most important
of all, we get to worship our loving and life-giving God and pray
together. We get to bless others by walking in the CROP Walk or by
hosting the Water Station at Trinity (call me if you want to help with
that). Our lives can be touched by the transcendent voice of the Holy
Spirit as it speaks through music and the God-giftedness of musicians
(St. Cecilia on Sunday night). Fellowship, worship, education,
witness, community, arts and music, and our chance to be a blessing
through outreach — the fullness of LIFE found in the community of
faith is being offered, lived, and loved through the ministry of
Trinity Church.
I hope you find this as exciting and fulfilling
as I find it to be — actually it would be fine if you found it even
more so. I hope, and frankly I pray, that you will be so stirred by
this that you will share one or more of these opportunities with your
friends, especially those who are not being nurtured by a community of
faith.
Hope also fills me as we come to the time of year
when we intentionally reflect and pray about ALL the ways we receive
and respond to the blessings we experience from God through Christ
Jesus beginning with life itself.
The ministries of Trinity Church do not happen by
accident. They flow from our passion to offer back to God in
thanksgiving for all which God has bestowed upon us. It is a
considerable investment of time, talent and treasure. In the later
decades of this century the church has largely fallen into an
unhealthy pattern. Asking for a little and apologizing for that. Well,
Jesus asked for everything — heart, soul, body, mind, time, and
money — everything. He didn’t apologize for it, and he blessed
what was offered.
To be and to do what the Spirit is calling us to
be and do requires us to boldly do what Jesus does — and when you
boldly respond with your heart, soul, body, mind, time and money know
that you will find joy and blessing beyond belief.
Faithfully,
Scott Hunter+

Connies
Corner
Godly Play is well underway. I think
I have seen more kids in the last three weeks than I have at Trinity
for a long while. We still have a few bumps to iron out, but
everyone seems to be enjoying it. I still have plenty of room for
aunts and uncles, and especially storytellers. Don't be concerned if
you weren't able to attend an orientation. I am glad to meet with
anyone at anytime to explain-even early on Sunday morning. Also,
everyone should feel welcome to observe the class on any given
Sunday. It's quite entertaining when the kids start talking about
God!
Peace,
Connie
