Sunday,
December 5, 1999 will be the annual Parish
Meeting following the 10:30 a.m. service. The approach of
the Annual Meeting means several things. It means that four
people who have served the parish faithfully for the past
three years will be rotating off the Vestry, and new Vestry
members and Trustees will be elected. The four people
leaving the Vestry are Shirley Lawrence-Berrey, Beth West,
Bill Mildren, Jr. and Diane Hensley (partial term). We thank
them for their dedication and hard work.
The Vestry of a parish is charged with oversight of the
"temporal affairs of the church." It is the Vestry
that is the legal "decision maker" with respect to
the operation (conducting of business) of the parish. [In
West Virginia this responsibility is shared with the
Trustees (who act at the direction of the Vestry).] The
Rector (and other clergy if there are any), Program Staff
and Vestry are responsible for seeking out the vision of the
parish and the companion mission which moves us toward the
realization of that vision. As such, the Vestry must ground
itself in Scripture, prayer and a commitment to servant
leadership (the type of leadership embodied by Jesus
Christ). Pray for all the nominees and choose as the Holy
Spirit guides you.
Also at the Parish Annual Meeting we will elect Diocesan
Delegates and Alternates, and a Trustee. They, along with
the clergy, represent Trinity at meetings of the deanery and
diocese. Please see inside for the list of all nominees. |

early childhood. Following graduation from dental school he served as
a dental officer in the Navy before returning to Parkersburg in 1968
to enter into private practice. Since then he has been active at
Trinity and has been a vestry member on two prior terms.
Scott Ramsey: Hello,
I am Dennis M. Ramsey, but please call me Scott. (There is an
interesting story behind my nickname, just ask if you would like to
know.) I am a lifelong Episcopalian and was an active member of
Trinity Church, Arlington, VA before moving to Parkersburg with my
wife Liz in February of 1998. I began attending Trinity at that time
and I feel very comfortable in my new parish home. I represent Trinity
on the Habitat for Humanity Episcopal House Sponsorship Committee. I
received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from West Virginia
University in 1995 and I am employed by Westbrook Health Services as a
Case Manager for individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
Betsy Curry: Betsy
is a Registered Nurse who is now a stay-at–home Mom with three boys:
Nicholas, Clint and Sean. Betsy and husband Craig have been attending
Trinity for the past 10 or 11 years. Betsy is a lifelong Episcopalian
who grew up mostly in Virginia. At Trinity, Betsy serves on the Altar
Guild, Worship Committee, as Secretary of the ECW and is editor of the
Trinity Times.

Carol Olson — Presently
Senior Warden and having served on the Vestry, Carol’s heart is an
outreach heart. She has worked tirelessly as a part of Trinity’s
outreach ministry and co-chaired the pioneering (should we say “groundbreaking)
“Women Raise the Roof” Habitat project. Carol has served the diocese
as a member of the Commission on Ministry, and is a leader in Diabetes
Education.
Betty Rodda : Betty

was felt as her father, Billy Bailey, spoke in the last Sunday of our
series. Many thanks to all who contributed and all who attended !!
