Faith @ Fifth and Juliana
Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,
“So Father Hunter,” someone asked, “what are you up to in the New Year?” It’s
a good question and I thought I might share with you a few things about what is up in the New Year with
respect to Trinity.
To quote a friend of mine who is soon to be consecrated bishop when he was asked about
his priorities for the diocese, “There are about twelve first priorities.” Okay, so he is going to a
diocese, and I am in a single parish. Maybe there are not twelve, but not just one either, and each must fit
within our mission and vision.
Of equal importance are four things:
 | Improve how we meet, greet and incorporate the stranger and newcomer into the
worship and life of the parish. |
 | Identify the un-churched, and marginally churched people of this area and develop
avenues to invite them into this community of faith. |
 | Work together with wardens and other leaders of the parish to shape the organization
of our ministries so they function well, empower and employ the vast creative gifts of Trinitarians in
ministry, and communicate effectively with one another and the parish. |
 | Create opportunities for fellowship and hands-on ministry within the youth community
of this parish, and grow the same. |
Additionally, here is a list of some of the opportunities to serve in the coming year.
The list reflects the ministries in which we are currently involved and to which we are committed.
 | Parish participation in the Parkersburg Ecumenical Crusade 2000 led by the Rev’d
Dr. Ralph Bell |
 | Development of Ministry with our soon-to-be Curate, the Rev’d Michael Hadaway |
 | Parish participation in the Wood County Episcopal Church Habitat House Project |
 | Parish participation in the Peterkin Capital Funds Campaign |
 | Planning and executing a Youth Work Trip to Parkersburg this summer by North Holland
Church (to include our own and area youth). |
 | A youth mission trip to southern West Virginia |
 | Building the Artist-In-Residence & St. Cecilia ministries |
 | Developing a multi-faceted Wednesday evening ministry with multi-generational focus |
 | Continuing to build the team and plan for the hosting of Convention 2001 and
electing the next Bishop of our diocese. |
These are by no means exhaustive. I believe, though, that you will find something that
excites and empowers you. It will be a good year, I know. How do I know. Because I know God is calling you
to share in these wonderful opportunities, and I have faith that your response will be “here I am, send
me.”
Faithfully yours,

their list, but they would like to make sure they haven’t missed anything. They will be having professionals
coming in to take a look around and giving estimates for repair work sometime in the very near future.

Connie’s Corner
Godly Play:
This upcoming Sunday we will be talking about the baptism of Jesus. Although it is actually after the fact,
I think it will be beneficial because most of the children were able to attend the baptism in church on Jan.
9th. We will be incorporating the changes we discussed in our meeting last Sunday. Also, I will now include in
my article each week the topic of our story in Godly Play for the upcoming week. This will keep everyone
informed, and allow the aunts and uncles to brush up on the subject so they will be prepared to answer
questions. I hope to see everyone there on Sunday.
Peace,
Connie

 When is the right
time to PRAY?
ALWAYS
When is the right time to PLAY?
SOMETIMES
When is the right time to DISOBEY GOD?
NEVER
When is the right time to READ GOD’S WORD?
ALWAYS
When is the right time to HELP OUR PARENTS?
WHEN THEY NEED YOU
When is the right time to MAKE THEM SAD?
NEVER
When is the right time to
LOVE OTHERS?
ALWAYS
When is the right time to LOVE OUR PARENTS?
ALWAYS
When is the right time to LOVE GOD?
ALWAYS
Those who are tardy
May miss the party.
The "right time" is now.
