as they are part of the search process for the
new Bishop of West Virginia. The meeting will be
led for the most part by the Search Committee.
Your input is encouraged and expected, so if you
would like an opportunity to be heard in regards
to what you feel we should be looking for in our
next Bishop, this is your opportunity.
Also, there are several elective offices and
appointed offices available in the Diocese. The
Elective positions available are: Standing
Committee (4 year term), 1 Clergy and 1 lay
person to be elected; Constitution and Canons
Committee (3 year term), 1 Clergy and 1 lay

elected; Sandscrest Foundation (3 year

from suggestions. If you or anyone you know
would be interested in one of these positions,
your nomination can be submitted at the Deanery

should include a brief biography and other
information which will be helpful to delegates
in the elective process.
There are many Bishop-appointed positions
available as well. Most positions are for a 3
year term, but several have 1 year term
opportunities as well. Space doesn’t allow for
them all to be listed here, but please contact

information, or contact Debbie Short at Diocesan
House at 304-344-3597 for more information. |

Faith @ Fifth
and Juliana
Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,
Leadership in the life of the parish is crucial.
The Holy Spirit is always present and willing to lead and guide. But
the Holy Spirit does that through the hearts, minds and hands of
people who are willing to offer themselves to and for the Spirit’s
use. In answer to the Spirit’s calling, Jennifer Currey and Jim Full
have given themselves to the leadership and work of Senior and Junior
Warden, respectively. I pray that you are as excited about this as I
am. They are gifted and talented people and their energy and
enthusiasm are contagious — so be prepared to catch it.
Additionally, the members of the vestry have
recently met in retreat and are working very intentionally to grow the
leadership core larger and larger in the parish. We have been focusing
on Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12 as part of the source of our
biblical and theological understanding“ for this. I encourage you to
spend some time reading and praying these scriptures. By so doing, you
will help us, and you become more and more aware of your own
giftedness and importance in this community of faith.
Changing directions ….
I have just received the news that the Rev’d
Andy Gerns’ mother, Frances, departed this life in faith and love on
February 18th. I ask that you hold Fr. Gerns (former rector of Trinity
Church) and the family in your prayers during this tender and holy
time. Memorials can be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 1018
Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT, 06107.
Blessings & peace,
Scott+

Be a Good Samaritan
There is a sign up sheet in Trinity Hall for those interested in helping with our ongoing ministry to the doctors
and nurses who serve the Good Samaritan Clinic. Sandwiches and a sweet treat, such as cookies, brownies, or fruit,
need to be delivered to the Clinic between 5:00 -5:30 PM one day each month that is designated for Trinity. We are
asking the person who volunteers each month to provide BOTH sandwiches and the sweets. Only one person is needed
each month. Dates needed for volunteers are March 7th, April 13th, May 11, June 8th and July 13th.

Palms Needed:
Please start bringing in any palms you may have from last Palm Sunday. These will be burned by Father Hunter and
the ashes used on Ash Wednesday. All palms need to be turned in by March 5th.

Fyne Junque Sale Coming this Spring!!!
Coming this May the ECW will be holding a Fyne Junque Sale (other wise known as “fine junk”). The sale
will take place one day only on Saturday, May 20th and be held in Trinity Hall. Please begin to think about all the
Fyne Junque you may no longer need and consider donating it for the sale. We will keep you informed as to when we
can begin to accept donations as plans for the sale are finalized.

Large Print Day by Day
Forward Publications is now offering the Day by Day booklets in large print. We have several at the church and
more can be made available. If you or someone you know would like to receive large print copies, please contact the
church office at 422-3362 and arrangements will be made for you to receive them.

Altar Flowers Needed:
There are several openings for altar flowers to be given in memory or in thanksgiving family or friends if anyone
is interested. Two available dates are for this coming Sunday, Feb. 20th and next Sunday, Feb. 27th. There are also
other openings as well and a sign-up sheet will be available on the bulletin board in Trinity Hall. If anyone is
interested especially in the next two Sundays please contact Linda Brantner as soon as possible at 863-5833, or send
your check and notation wanted to her at Rt 2 Box 221, Washington, WV 26181.

Deanery Meeting:
The next meeting of the Mid-Ohio Valley Deanery will be Saturday, February 26th, at Grace Episcopal Church in St.
Mary’s at 2:30 P.M. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings, as they are part of the search

opportunity. If you would like further information, please contact Father Hunter at the church office.

Pairs and Spares (and maybe a strike!)
The Pair and Spares Group will be having a bowling outing this coming Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Ren Dor
Bowling Lanes. Everyone, young and not so young, is welcome and encouraged to bring a friend. Please call Becky
Johnson (422-7109) as soon as possible if you are planning to attend so she will know how many people to expect and
how many lanes to reserve.

Sharing Good News:
Hello all:
I just wanted to share some good, personal news with all of you.
My gift from God for work in this life is an ability to write...which I do for a living, mostly about dogs and their
people. Although I was unable to attend due to health problems, Sunday night at a banquet in New York City, held in
conjunction with the Westminster Kennel Club show, I was recognized for some of my work. I won awards for:
Best Feature Article (about dogs) on the Internet, and;
Best Column (about dogs) on the Internet.
Thanks to God for this recognition, for my work and for the dogs who so lovingly share our lives.

Connie’s
Corner
Nathaniel Miller did a fine job telling the story of the Merchant in search of the “Pearl of Great
Price” — something so fine that the man would give everything, everything to have it. It was finally
concluded that God’s love was the one thing worth everything. The young people then made Valentines which
were taken by parishioners to those who could not be with us on Sunday due to illness or other challenges.
Next week's story is based on Matt. 13:3-8, Mark 4: 3-8, and Luke8:5-8.
It is the story of "The Sower"- another parable to be told to the children concerning how putting
one’s roots into good soil, there is much room to grow.
Peace,
Connie |

Please hold these people, events and circumstances in your daily prayers. Also, we encourage you to always say a
prayer for those unknown persons who have no one to pray for them. By-the-way, please remember to renew prayer
requests weekly.
